Live album recorded in Los Angeles (the DVD that accompanies the release is from Italy). Opens with the scorching blast of pounding noise and screams of "total war" which makes sense, because the first track is "Total War". Calms down considerably with waves of ambient drone before bringing back the motif of the opening track on "Fire Shall Come."

The closer, "People" is the highlight. It's a dreamy, gorgeous 'apocalyptic folk" song and it's just gorgeous despite the misanthropic lyrics and the fact that being as clueless as I am, I might be one of the people he's singing about. It sounds like it's a studio recording and I know he's recorded the track on a studio album, so I'm a little thrown off by that, but it's great, and I always play it a couple times when I listen to this disc. Update: thanks to an awesome blog I found that I'm immediately going to link to, I've heard the original version of this. I actually like the one on this record better, but that might be "I heard it this way first" syndrome.

I haven't bothered trying to watch the DVD yet because it's in PAL format and I don't think I can.
